The President-Elect position is filled by the Nominating Committee and approved by the Board of Directors and the REALTOR® membership. If you wish to be considered by the MJAR Nominating Committee, submit this Application for 2027 President-Elect Position by the deadline of 5:00pm on August 1, 2026. The following are the Role of the President-Elect, Director Responsibilities, Date of Candidate Interviews and President-Elect Candidate Requirements. ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT-ELECT • Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Executive Committee. • Perform the duties of the President in the event of his/her temporary absence and shall perform other duties as delegated to him/her by the Board of Directors or the President. • Attend MJAR Board of Director meetings. • Attempt to reach consensus on each issue before the Board of Directors. • Devote the necessary time and effort required of the position. • Have a clear understanding of the policies of MJAR and train for his/her role as President. • Attend MJAR committee meetings, as needed, to become better informed as to committee work. • Familiarize him/herself with MJAR members so he/she can select chairpersons and committee members. • Advise CEO of planned vacations and extended absences where Association duties cannot be fulfilled. • Ensure the Executive Committee is working cohesively and assists the Secretary/Treasurer. Seek help from them on decisions affecting the association. • Be thoroughly and completely prepared before each meeting. Become familiar with Robert’s Rules of Order. Read and understand the information given and, if not understood, exercise care to receive clarification before the meeting. • Ensure the written records of the Association minutes are kept and are kept confidential when required. • Seek input from REALTOR® members. • Seek guidance from Past Presidents. • Attend and participate in Association meetings and functions. • Keep up to date on industry trends and share them with the Board. • Select MJAR Committee Chairpersons and Committee Members with President in November. • Serve on a New Jersey REALTOR® Committee, if possible. • Complete the REALTORS® Excelling in Association Leadership (REAL) course available through NAR’s Center for REALTOR® Development prior to their Installation. • Attend 2027 NAR Legislative Meetings (May 23-May 26, 2027 in Washington D.C.). Attend one day NJ REALTORS Leadership Seminar. Attend NAR Annual Conference (November 10-16, 2027 in San Diego, CA). Attend NJ REALTORS Triple Play Convention (December 7-10, 2026). If there are extenuating circumstances where attendance is not possible (e.g. illness, injury, birth of a child, or business emergency, etc.), the President-Elect is to notify the CEO. • MJAR reimburses expenses for attendance at certain NJ REALTORS® and NAR meetings as per the MJAR Policy Manual when an expense report and receipts are received. • When serving as President-Elect of MJAR, a President-Elect’s fiduciary duty is with MJAR, not with their company or franchise. • Consider voluntarily contributing to the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) while serving as President-Elect. • The Board works as a group and the President-Elect supports their decisions regardless of their personal view. • The President-Elect automatically ascends to the President position the following year. I agree to the above Role of the President-Elect, if elected to serve * Clear Signature DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILIES: • Govern, develop and set a course for the future of the association • Determine and advance the organization’s mission and purposes • Attend the MJAR Board of Directors meetings - usually six (6) per year and usually held on the third Wednesday of January, March, May, August, September, and November • Determine, monitor and enhance programs and services • Ensure adequate resources • Promote products and services and provide information to the real estate community at large • Promote the organization’s image • Support the Chief Executive Officer and assess performance periodically • Consider an investment in RPAC and attend an MJAR RPAC fundraising event annually • Attend or support an MJAR Community Service event annually • Attend the Annual Installation of Officers and Directors • Attend the Annual Meeting and Election • Participate in MJAR activities, events and committee programs throughout the year and encourage other members to as well I agree to the above Director Responsibilities, if elected to serve: * Clear Signature DATE OF CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS: Any eligible member who submits an application will be offered an interview for the open positions on the MJAR Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee has tentatively scheduled candidates interviews on Monday, August 17, 2026 and Tuesday, August 18, 2026 between 10:00am-4:00pm – dates and times subject to change. Candidate must have held REALTOR® membership with MJAR (or its predecessor entities) for at least three (3) years. Candidate must have served as an officer and/or member of the Board of Directors for at least two (2) consecutive years within the last six (6) years. Candidate shall have no ethics violations with any Association of REALTORS® to be eligible.
